Care Guide

Light Level: Direct Sunlight

This plant loves direct sunlight. Place it by a window or on a porch that gets direct, natural light for at least a portion of the day.

Water Level: Thirsty

This plant can only go 1-2 weeks without water so check on it weekly and add water every time the top two inches of soil dry out.

Quick Tips

Bright light helps Mini Me keep its pink color. If it doesn’t get enough light, much of the variegation will fade to green.

Cordyline fruticosa Mini Me

Thought to be native to areas of Southeast Asia, Cordyline (also called Ti Plant or Cabbage Palm) is widely grown as a landscape plant in tropical areas around the world. It’s believed by some cultures to be a source of good luck and to protect against evil. Most old-school varieties (Red Sister is a classic selection) grow quite tall—to 8 feet or more. But Mini Me is a miniature selection that stays small, making it an excellent houseplant for areas with bright light.
Note: Cordyline varieties, like their relatives, including Dracaena, can be sensitive to water quality. If your municipality has a high level of fluoride in the water, you may see toxicity develop over time. It appears as brown leaf tips and edges. Prevent this by mixing your tap water with rainwater or bottled water to decrease fluoride concentrations.
