Rock Cress (Arabis hybrida)

Rock Cress Plant Features

Rock cress, often called arabis, is an easy-to-grow groundcover that erupts in a stunning display of pink, purple, blue, or white flowers in the early spring. In fact, when the plant is in full bloom, it's so packed with color you can barely see the foliage. Rock cress grows just 6 inches tall making it an ideal choice for rock gardens, walls, or pathway edges. Because it's an early bloomer it makes a good companion for spring-flowering bulbs such as tulips and daffodils. Butterflies will also appreciate an early-season feast from the nectar-rich rock cress blooms. A sun lover, rock cress is also drought resistant and thrives in hot, dry situations. Deer generally won't eat rock cress. Hardy from zones 4-9

Rock Cress Growing Instructions

Rock cress thrives in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Although rock cress is drought resistant, it does enjoy a drink when the soil gets dry. Just avoid planting rock cress where it water sits between rains. This little charmer will sulk in wet soil. Shear the plants back by a third after the flowers fade.

Rock cress is not recommended for human or animal consumption.
