Japanese Anemone (Anemonoe x hybrida)

Japanese Anemone Plant Features

Japanese anemone is a delightful perennial that blooms its head off in late summer and fall, producing daisy-like flowers in shades of white and pink. This easy-care perennial forms a mound of divided foliage that looks attractiveeven when not in bloom. Because it grows 2 to 4 feet tall, Japanese anemone is perfect for the middle or back of the border. It's also good for mass plantings because it slowly spreads via underground stems. Butterflies also enjoy feasting on the flowers of Japanese anemone. Plus, Japanese anemone is relatively deer resistant. Hardy from zones 4-8.

Japanese Anemone Growing Instructions

Plant Japanese anemone in full sun or partial shade. Keep the plants moist to ensure more blooms and to keep the leaf edges from becoming brown and crispy. Japanese anemone can tolerate a little drier soil in partial shade, but may not bloom as well and can get a little floppy. Japanese anemone can spread vigorously when happy, so in ideal conditions, it's wise to plant it where it has space to grow, or in a contained site where it won't crowd it's neighbors.

Japanese anemone is not recommended for human or animal consumption.
