Goldenrod Plant Features

Enjoy a burst of fall color in your garden with glorious goldenrod. This super-easy, sun-loving perennial grows 18 to 24 inches tall and produces long wands of golden-yellow flowers from late summer through autumn. Goldenrod is a native perennial that's drought tolerant and deer resistant. Domestic varieties of goldenrod are much more compact than their wild cousins. The plants are highly attractive to butterflies, especially migrating Monarchs. Use goldenrod in a mixed perennial border or let it naturalize in a meadow or hillside garden. Contrary to popular belief, goldenrod does not cause hay fever. Hardy from zones 3-9.

Goldenrod Growing Instructions

Plant goldenrod in a sunny location that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun a day. Goldenrod is not fussy about soil type, but does prefer a rich, well-drained location. The plants are drought tolerant.
