Fleabane (Erigeron spp.)

Fleabane Plant Features

A West Coast native, fleabane is a sun-worshipping, compact perennial that mothers itself in bloom during the spring and summer. The perky, daisy-like flowers have pale white or pink petals that surround a bright yellow center. The sweet blooms are also irresistible to butterflies and hummingbirds. Because fleabane thrives in quick-draining soil it's a great choice for rock gardens, slopes, and seaside landscapes. Fleabane is relatively drought resistant, but is happier when it receives regular watering. Fleabane grows 12 to 18 inches tall and has no insect or disease problems. Zones 5-9

Fleabane Growing Instructions

Plant fleabane in a sunny spot that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun a day. It's not too fussy about soil type, but does best in a loose, well-drained location that does not stay wet after storms. Fleabane spreads slowly by underground runners, but does not become invasive.

Fleabane is not intended for human or animal consumption.
