Everlasting Plant Features

Heat and drought tolerant, chrysocephalum (commonly called everlasting or yellow buttons) produces scores of small, cheery yellow flowers and handsome gray-green leaves. In the North, chrysocephalum makes an outstanding container plant, especially mixed with other summer bloomers such as calibrachoa, verbena, or petunia. In the south, particularly in Florida, this rugged bloomer will grow all year long, growing 1 to 2 feet tall. For best effect, mass it in big borders to create a golden carpet of color. Butterflies love this plant. Hardy from zones 8-11.

Everlasting Growing Instructions

Plant chrysocephalum in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. These Australian natives prefer a loose, quick draining site that doesn't turn to mud after a rain. Chrysocephalum has few insect or disease problems. They are not heavy feeders, but will appreciate a dose of slow-release fertilizer in the spring.
